[Thinkpad] Which model of WLAN card to use for best reception

I justed tested two 600X Thinkpads both with PC cards for wireless
LAN in a situation where the reception from the base station
(wireless router) is kind of weak. Both are 3Com cards, but different
models, and the result is VERY different. One of them gives very weak
reception indeed (repetitive disconnections, reception hovering
between zero and one on a scale to ten) and the other one give much
better (no disconnections) but still weak reception compared to full.

Now I want to see if I can get a still better card to optimize the
reception. What are the criteria? Which make and model should I go
for?
