There was a MS 'Plus Pack' for Win98. It contained a lot of desktop
themes, screensavers, wallpapers, etc. See
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/win98_plus98.asp for a review. As
far as operating Windows goes, it should be completely optional,
although you may be using some components that you'll miss if you
uninstall it. I really don't know which Plus components would have
survived the upgrade to 2000, but I suspect a lot of them would, given
their nature.
