I'm always for traveling as light as possible. Unless you need
constant access to the extra drives the T series has or can't live
with a 12" display, the X series is the way to go. The battery life is
good, about 4.5 hours under normal use. It also has the option of an
extended battery.

As far as the X40, there are some extended debates about the X40s v.
the X30s you can look up. While there's nothing wrong with the X40, I
don't think the difference in weight and thickness is worth the
compromises you have to make to get it (especially the smaller, slower
drives) or the price premium.

In sum, I recommend going with the X31. It has USB 2.0 which helps
with peripherals when you've only got one pc card slot, it is quite a
bit cheaper than the X32 but close in performance. It's the best bang
for the buck X series out right now.
