I don't know if that unit even supports CardBus, that may be the problem.
If it does, you may need to go into the PS2 commands and enable CardBus
Of course, if you did a "clean" install of 98 instead of using an IBM
recovery CD, you may have the wrong PCMCIA controllers installed, in which
case it will never work.
