Hi Courtney,
I have a Palm T|X, and I'm very happy with it. While its MSRP at $299 is
$100 more than the E2 (at $199), I think you get a lot for that money,
and you can get it for $270 at Newegg (where I got mine) or other places
for a little less.
You get 128MB RAM instead of 32MB, a 312MHz CPU instead of 200MHz, and
the biggie for me: a 320x480 screen instead of 320x320. It's great for
reading web pages or e-books as you can get a LOT more text on the
screen. That big screen will make a big difference reading those
technical documents. They both have non-volatile memory, so you won't
lose data when the battery dies.
Oh, for your daughter, the TX has WiFi and Bluetooth, but the E2 has
only Bluetooth. There are no Bluetooth hotspots, since it only goes 15
feet or so. Adding WiFi to the E2 will increase the price: Palm sells
their card for $99.99. You end up with the same price and another small
piece to misplace.
Shop around for memory cards, too.

My daughter will grad this June as a Hospital Unit Coordinator and needs a PDA to keep prescription drug dictionaries etc on. I've been looking at the Tungsten E2 as the best bang for the buck, since it can do wireless, upgrade memory etc, and not cost a bomb either. Does anyone recommend this or use this one, and will it do for day to day work? She doesn't really need all the bells and whistles but would like to have something she can add mem to, and use in hotspots if necessary, but really is secondary.
