Given that you have Ghost, that is certainly a quick and easy way to do it.
Or you could any of the various partition magic-type programs to shrink the
C: drive. I'd try Ghost first since you have it.

You can do this, but it would be a lot more work. At least you can use the
ThinkPad Software Installer which will go get all the rest of the IBM
software for you. (This is already installed on your preload; use it to
update your drivers and other IBM software.)
Also you would need a copy of XP to install from. I'd stick with the
preinstall and trim it to your needs.
