Not sure about current practices, but I wouldn't count on the credit card
protection if you have money in the account. I had one situation where
the seller sent me goods that were completely different than described. I
paid through PayPal using a credit card. When I objected to what was
delivered, PayPal reversed the charge on the credit card and then just
took the funds from my account, leaving me with a dispute that could only
be resolved through PayPal. Their dispute resolution process was
non-existant, and they froze me whole account, even though the remaining
funds clearly had nothing to do with the dispute. I still use PayPal, but
I never leave funds in the account.
