Nope. Perform the clean install, either before or after you have changed the
partition size.
Then d/l & run the IBM software installer, and select the utilities you
choose to have on your system.
It will find what is available from IBM for your laptop model.
Depending on the OS you might need an IBM supplement file or two, which you
can verify by visiting the support site and entering your model number.
Then it's time for MS Windows Updates.
You will have already loaded the appropriate IBM hardware drivers with the
previous step & can ignore any MS driver offerings.
Simply take whatever software updates your OS needs and go from there.
