Re: [Thinkpad] Largest HDD for T43 - not so fast.

I finally experienced this behaviour first-hand today, though on a T52 rather than a T43. I installed an genuine IBM-branded Hitachi Travelstar from a T41 (so that I could remove the hardware password and unhide the service partition before redeploying the drive) and the BIOS halted after POST with the warning about incompatible firmware versions. But interestingly, the message explicitly told me how to go into the BIOS and disable the halt so that if I wanted to continue to use the drive, it would boot without intervention, albeit still displaying the warning for a few seconds each time it was booted.

That seems like a reasonable compromise to me, so I'm puzzled why people regard it as a show-stopper. Or does the T43 BIOS not offer such an option?
