As may have been stated before by many others, I too tried to change a hard
drive on a T23 where the drive was starting to have problems. I was not
able to dup the old drive to the new one by any means (not Ghost or any of
the products) and have the new drive boot. All these tech tell you needs to
be formated on the laptop the drive is going to. None of this works! and
even IBM Techs on the 800 number will not tell you how to do itand this is
completely due the the hidden partition. The best you can to is dup the old
drive with the hidden partiton (that is IBM's repair/drive rebuild). Boot
the latop top so that it intitalizes the main partion with the OS. Then
move your data from the old drive to the new drive by using the old drive as
a second drive on the laptop. Then start the long process of re-installing
all the software. This is the only way I was able to do it.
