Not as far as I know. Lots of people have installed XP on their 600X
machines - no problem.

It is a bit difficult to figure out what you've done so far. But the first
thing to do is check that you have the latest BIOS. Anything but the latest
BIOS may run into problems with XP.
Your symptoms may also arise if you have a bad XP disk. Or if you have a
misconfigured hard drive.
And of course you may have messed something up when you installed the new
CPU.
