I tried the workaround information at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817472/en-us#kb4
but was unsuccessful. When windows would start back up, it would blue
screen, in an infinite loop. The only way I was able to boot back
into windows was with the last known good configuration.
I think I am done troubleshooting now. I paid good money for a
thinkpad, and believe I have gone above and beyond trying to figure
out what is wrong with it. I have gone through several
re-installations of windows, as well as trying new hard drives.
I will have Lenovo replace the system board, and hopefully these
problems will disappear. I will let you all know how it turns out.
