Yes, you can use the 600E recovery, of course everything will be wiped.
Try re-seating the hard drive. Try going into safe mode and using configsafe
to go back to an earlier config.
Of the hard drive may have gone bad.
You may need to flash the BIOS for the unit to recognize the 80 gig properly
