I can report progress of a sort. After posting the message below, I
tried removing the DVD drive and the can of air again (for some reason I
hadn't removed the drive before). Earlier I only had the PCMCIA card
removed, and the battery.
When I blew air in the exhaust grille, I could hear a fan whirring
around. So I tried booting up and was successful. I was able to use
the computer all day yesterday. :)
Today I tried to start up (with battery, DVD, and PCMCIA installed
again) and got the fan error. Removing those three items, the machine
booted. I don't have a can of air with me, so there was not blowing
involved.
Does this mean I need to send the unit off to service?
Thanks!
