I have a T60 running WinXP. I'm experiencing a weird problem with the
onboard GB NIC, which is causing me to lose what's left oof my hair.
The NIC works perfectly when the AC adapter is connected, but as soon as
I unplug the external power the NIC disappears - it simply vanishes from
Hardware Manager and Network Connections, and Access Connections
complains it can't find the hardware.
Under normal circumstance, I guess most folks would only ever want to
use a wireless connection while running off the battery, but in my line
of work I often need to carry this thing around and connect to both
wired and wireless ports while running off the battery.
I've turned off any and every option in the adapter properties that
sounded even remotely related to power management, and have checked that
I only have the one default Hardware Profile, yet this behaviour persists.
Any and all ideas welcomed.
Cheers,
Jon.
