I would expect that like all memory the price will continue to drop.
The question is whether the price will catch up with my appetite for
more disk space.
2 or 3 years ago when I assembled the Solid State 560X I bought an 800
Mb (yes Mb) IDE flash drive for around $60 which is still in use. At
the time Sandisk was offering a 4Gb IDE flash drive for near $5K.
I am currently assembling a second 560X with an internal 2 Gb CF card
(in an IDE adaptor) for C: and a 1Gb CF card in the card slot for D:
If I put a 2Gb card in the card slot I'd have as much drive space as
the original 560 came with.
I'd love to have a 32 Gb flash drive but suspect that by the time the
price drops to my level I'll be looking for 100 GB.

When I get the second Solid State 560 working I will be selling off the
original, contact me for details.

The 560x will boot from a CF card.
I've had mine boot to DOS running an emulator for my HP palmtop PIM
applications.
Much quicker starting up when you want to look up a phone number.
Remove the card and it boots to Win98 Lite.

technology is the answer, what was the question?
