Yes, that is certainly another option, but frankly it irritates me that none
of the 4 different disk cloning programs I have on the machine will work as
advertised. Why the heck else did I spend good money on these programs?
(OK, I only actually had to pay for one of them, but the principle still
applies.)

Ontrack and Paragon (and IBM Disk Manager 2000) have always worked perfectly
for me before, I don't know if I feel like downloading yet another program
like this.
BTW, the drive itself is working fine, I can see everything by booting a
live Linux distro. It is also eerily quiet, both compared to the clunker
that came with the machine, and compared to the newer Hitachi drives I've
recently put in other machines. Not the fastest thing around, but $70 for
100g is pretty cheap.
