Methinks Jon has hit the nail on the head.

Accounting for extra drive letters & the drive's geometry, a good Thinkpad
clone needs to be performed in a Thinkpad..........

Isn't that why we bought hard drive tray adapters for the internal Ultrabay
& external Portable Drive Bays?

To do the job correctly one might use an A30 with two drive
trays...................
Or bribe a pal who does.

For the X series dilemma; might a Portable Drive Bay 2000 with the hard
drive tray installed, using the USB connector be sufficient, since the user
has no docking type ability?

Matt
