I am running a "generic" (non-IBM) copy of Microsoft Windows XP on my
ThinkPad T23, too. You can find all of the firmware, driver and software

Anticipating your next question, you should be able to bring your T23 up
to 1GB of RAM with two 512MB PC-133 non-parity SO-DIMMs. I've upgraded the
hard disk in mine to a Hitachi 2.5" 60GB 5400RPM hard disk drive, which
seems much faster than the original hard disk drive (an IBM 30GB 4200RPM
disk, I believe). I don't know what the upper size limit is on hard disk
drives in the BIOS, but I would think it should recognize up to at least a
120GB hard disk drive without difficulty (see <http://www.48bitlba.com/>
for an explanation).
