I received the used T40 fan from ThermalFx, Inc. (www.thermalfx.com) today.
I had ordered it on President's Day, and had received automated acknowledgments that day. I became a bit concerned when it hadn't shown up by the weekend, so on Saturday about noon I sent them email asking where it was. In less than 4 hours, I received a note back saying "It shipped Priority Mail on Tuesday, here's the item # [I refuse to call it a 'tracking number', since it doesn't allow real tracking!], and let us know if it doesn't arrive Real Soon Now." They also offered to ship another, asking me to refuse whichever arrived second.
Given a prompt and positive response like that, I told them not to worry, that I wouldn't panic until at least Wednesday.
So of course it arrived today; USPS must have had some sort of problem, as it shouldn't take five business days from LA to DC.
Anyway, it looked brand new, so I put it in (again, it's SO easy to work on these lovely machines!) and it's humming away -- or rather, whirring *silently* away. A great $25 purchase.
Thanks to those who encouraged me to tinker; next time I need to do so, I'll be even more aggressive. And ThermalFx is a winner in my book!
