From my experiences on another manufacturer laptop:
If you use the key found on the bottom of the machine, you'll need to
activate.
If you use Magic Jellybean or a similar utility on the original OEM install,
it might yield a different key. Use that key on the reinstall, and it won't
require activation. YMMV.
