Phil:
I think you need to pay the service contract price on a refurb, which is
around $178 per year plus interest.
Now consider this:
I have brand new sealed high end T43's with high res screen and DVD-R and
2.5 years IBM warranty, and the upgrade price is $110 per year.
So I don't know how much the refurb costs, but for $1099 I can sell you a
high end ThinkPad with 2.5 years warranty, it may cost you that much or more
to get the same 2.5 years out of the refurb (and IBM DOES always charge
sales tax on the warranty extensions, so on the refurb you are looking at
over $300 for the warranty.
I also have new T-60's but I can understand about wanting the T43
