Or you may need a better USB to serial adapter...they're not all created
equal. This article, albeit a few years old, compares some adapters
available then in terms of compatibility. http://www.rttycontesting.com/usb
For a retail-available product, you might consider the Keyspan Serial to
USB Adapter Mfg Part #: USA-19HS
http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=309975 which
as great user reviews http://reviews.compusa.com/2795/599085/reviews.htm
I've successfully used this Keyspan adapter with the ProScan Universal Scan
Tool w/Serial Interface OBD-II reader (from http://www.myscantool.com/ )
with a Thinkpad T40 laptop.
Two other possibilities:
-some other software on the T60 is missing or conflicting with Power
Commander (you didn't switch from XP to Vista, did you? Doing so is a prime
candidate for being the source of problems.)
-maybe some of the drivers were half-loaded/stuck/need rolling back (look
for yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager)
