I run a 1920x1200 26" NEC Multisync LCD (2960WUXi) plus a T60p with a
15" UXGA IPS screen, so my displays are pretty good. And Bruce, I'm
aware of running my displays in their native resolution.
Turning off Cleartype in XP has no direct effect on Cleartype in Office
2007. You are required to turn it off in Office as well. However, that
leaves you with the Segoe font that was developed for ClearType. Running
Segoe UI with Cleartype office looks awful.
I may be the minority, but the anti-aliasing of Cleartype definitely
makes things fuzzier to my eyes rather than better. I guess I prefer to
see crisp edges on my fonts.
