With my most recent X purchase, I decided to abandon the whole
mediaslice/ultrabay thing. I've repeatedly been annoyed that they keep
changing the format, and even the drives, and I don't want to keep buying
redundant stuff.

So, this time I got a regular external USB CD/DVD drive. And I back up to
external USB SATA drives (you can get 500GB in an enclosure for about $150).
I may also start ripping disks so that I don't need the physical media
anymore.
