I'm trying again with the flash disk method.
fwiw, I had first tried the "regular" activation for two reasons:
1) I wouldn't have to insert the flash disk, so it's formally a "cleaner"
start
2) I thought activation wouldn't be too much hassle -- but you have to read
out roughly 50 numbers, then get rejected, then talk to the rep -- so that
was more hassle than expected -- and then, surprisingly, I was going to have
to do it again.
It'll be interesting to see if: 1) flash disk activation, 2) driver install,
also triggers reactivation...
