fwiw, in the last few weeks I've been reorganizing my home network, and in
the process I've installed XP onto 3 PCs using the same key that I had
previously activated back when I had installed XP onto another PC a few
years ago -- and each has passed activation.
Might this mean my key permits use on more than one PC?
Or do I now have a "ticking timebomb" insofar as one will eventually
"unactivate" itself?
(I guess I was expecting activation to fail when I tried to activate the
second, third, fourth PCs)
The first installation was years ago onto a Thinkpad 600.
The second installation was about a month ago to an X20 -- I was going to
retire the 600, and replace it with the X20 -- but it seems there's
something buggy with the audio, and there was nothing I could seem to do
about it.
The third installation was onto a new Fujitsu -- (the Fujitsu will now
replace the 600) -- and the same key worked again through activation. (so,
I'll retire the 600 and X20, and I'm still just using one XP, but I'd think
activation would complain)
The fouth was onto a new X61s (came with Vista, and I wanted to try XP on
it) -- and the key/activation worked again.
What gives?
Thanks, -Scott
