I had my son's thinkpad for a day, yesterday( its just come back from Baku)
and took it in to my laptop pecialist, who can repair downto component
level.
He confirmed what I had found, when looking with a 10 power lupe and a
1 watt led spotlight,
that the solder connectors had micro cracks all along one side, ie the
side the memory wouldnt work.
He was able to reflow these micro cracks in about 10 mins , on test it
was shown that the fault was cured!!.
So hope for others with this fault.
