[Thinkpad] Faulty ThinkPad power connector

I have 5 power adaptors (for 3 ThinkPads, 2 x T23 + 1 x T43)
and the connector into the computer -
or rather the join of the wire to the connector -
has broken on 3 of them.

Is this a known bad feature of ThinkPads?
More to the point, is it reasonably easy
to mend with a soldering iron?

Any advice gratefully received.
