Bingo! That is probably the biggest problem. Lots of PC software was not written properly or did unwise things like use holes that were later closed.
Who's to blame. ISVs and MS share the blame. Plenty to go around.
That said, progress continues, software evolves, and until HAL takes over (for you 2001 Space Odyssey fans), we'll continue to moan and complain but we'll all move on; whether to MS, Linux, etc., doesn't matter as long as the work we're trying to do gets done. Thats why we're using the computers to begin with--right?
