That's odd; I have Office 97 running on 3 workstations at our offices. I built the
machines and installed everything (2-3 years ago!). I don't remember any issues installing
Office.
I wonder if the version matters or the key. Or the XP version; we have a Corp. license to
SP1, so I slipstreamed SP2.

Anyway, why bother this: http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=pclinuxos
is free, has @7000 free apps, including better browsers, better email client and much
better office apps.
