Well, Windows XP can recognize 16 GB or more, but the issue is what the
Motherboard and BIOS will recognize.

the 2652 is listed by Crucial at 1024, maximum, but only officially allows
256 mb per slot
The 2653 is listed by Crucial at 1024, maximum, but only officially allows
256 MB per slot, yet I know some units that allow 512 mb per slot
The 2654 allows 512 MB per slot for a maximum of 1024.
Your mileage may vary.

Officially, IBM lists 512 or 1024, depending on the type number. I am not
aware of any that are allowing a larger capacity, but I haven't checked one
latelys.
