No flames - just an observation. The Thinklight is
probably dim on purpose (battery life, etc). It isn't
because bright LEDs aren't available. There are
5 Watt, 100 lumen LEDs available. They run hot
and would produce a very bright keyboard :-)
The new Lexus LS Hybrid has LED low-beam
headlights so LEDs can be really bright if you use
enough of them. The following is from the Lexus
web site:
"Light-emitting diode (LED) headlamps illuminate faster,
last longer and use less energy than conventional halogen
or High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps."
Some high-end (very expensive) and bright bicycle headlights
are now using "white" LEDs along with Lion batteries.
There are even some very bright (and small), high-end
flashlights using LEDs and single use lithium batteries.
