[OmniBook] Omnibook 900 slow sound?!

Hello,

I have installed Debian Unstable on my laptop. I use the neomagic driver with 
OverlayMem=829440. Video output of a divx file with mplayer and vo=xv ao=null 
is ok an the CPU has about 50% idle.

But if I set ao=oss the cpu is at 100% :(

I can not imagine that the sound decoding can be so heavy, should I try 
nm256_audio?

My hardware is p2 366MHz mobile, 160MB Ram, neomagic sound and vga

Any tips to increase the performance?
