Build the 2.4.26 (or later) kernel which has obmouse integrated
on a different x86 machine. Make sure the .config is for the
target (486/DX) CPU and not the host CPU.
Then "make modules_install INSTALL_MOD_PATH=/tmp" in order to "harvest"
the binary driver modules.
That's essentially how I build the "ob600-2.4.20.tgz" kernel+modules
tar balls that are parked on gsyprf10.
If I have time, I'll rebuild the latest official 2.4.X I find
on kernel.org and post the bits on gsyprf10...pub/kernels/ob600/
along side the existing ones.

Yes.

Yes - using the same method I describe above.
I use my ob500 (750Mhz P3) to build kernels for the OB600CT.

I don't expect either obmouse version to build under 2.2.
I stopped messing 2.2 kernels after initial developement.
That's the first reason to move to a 2.4 kernel.
2.4 kernels have decent backwards compatibility, work fine
on ob600 laptops, and have lots of technical advantages over 2.2.
